Research is the foundation of every recommendation, strategy, and success story featured on Project Remission. The science supporting lifestyle medicine continues to grow, demonstrating that evidence-based changes in nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep, social connection, and avoidance of risky substances can help prevent, treat, and in many cases improve chronic disease outcomes.
The resources, claims, and clinical insights shared throughout this site are grounded in peer-reviewed research, published guidelines, and the work of leading medical and public health organizations. Our goal is simple: to ensure that every statement about remission, health restoration, and lifestyle medicine is supported by credible scientific evidence.
How we define remission.
For type 2 diabetes, remission refers to the accepted clinical definition: maintaining an HbA1c below 6.5% for at least three months without glucose-lowering medication. For hypertension, obesity, and other chronic conditions, we use language to describe meaningful and sustained improvement in disease burden, risk factors, medication dependence, and overall health outcomes. These conditions do not have a universally accepted clinical remission definition, but the underlying principle remains: addressing root causes to restore health and function.
